What is an Altered Book?
An altered book is a form of mixed media artwork that changes a book from its original form into a different form, altering its appearance and/or meaning.
Altered Books is an art form using mixed media to give old (hardback) books a new appearance or meaning. It is little like a combination of a scrapbook or collage, using clippings/text/pictures/photo's/rubber stamps/ paint/ textiles/ glue /paint ink and crayons. A very practical event to explore making a journey/travel book/diary using books/words in a different way.
Manon's courses on Altered Books attract a lot of interest and she has become a regular at the Lowdham Book Festival where she runs a workshop each year that is always well attended.
